Mumbai’s Postal Department has recently launched a new website www.sukanyaaccountmumbai.in for the investors in the Mumbai region to guide and help them open accounts under its most popular scheme Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. This website provides all kind of information about this scheme, including its salient features, frequently asked questions (FAQs), application form for account opening and most importantly, the “Sukanya Samriddhi Calculator”.
List of Post Offices – The website also carries a list of 417 post offices located in Mumbai along with their complete addresses and respective contact numbers (landline). You can now contact any of these post offices nearest to your place and talk to the concerned officer directly regarding any features of this scheme.
Toll-Free Number – Mumbai post has also taken the initiative to start providing info regarding the scheme and also resolving investors’ queries on its customer care toll-free number 1800-223-060. You can now dial this toll-free no. and have your queries resolved regarding Sukanya scheme.
Call Back Facility – They have gone one step forward by introducing the call back facility as well, in which you need to provide your name, e-mail id, contact number and PIN code and they will call you back and provide all the necessary information.
Facebook Page – Mumbai Post has also created a dedicated facebook page for this scheme, namely Sukanya Samriddhi Account Mumbai Postal Region.
At a time when most of the banks are just not ready to provide any info regarding this scheme, all these initiatives are really appreciable.
What impressed me the most is the availability of the excel-based calculator on this website. I did not expect such a move by a postal department in such a short period of time. I really appreciate such proactive steps taken by the Mumbai postal department. This calculator calculates for you the expected maturity value that you’ll get after 21 years based on your annual or monthly contributions. You can check the maturity values based on your variable contributions as well.
You can get an idea about the maturity values from the below pasted tables as well based on your annual or monthly contributions and a constant rate of interest of 9.2%.

You are allowed to make deposits as many times as you want in a month or in a year. There is no such limit.

In the time of Account opening my doughter DOB is 13/07/2013 and uid is also same but now we change actual DOB in Uid I. E.13/07/2012 and school admission is as per actual. So my question is the is valid for amend date of birth or not. I can be deposit amount continues. In time of withdrawal what difficulties will come.

Hi Bhawani,
You need to deposit a minimum of Rs. 1,000 per annum. You can deposit up to Rs. 1.50 lakh per annum whichever way you want, either Rs. 5,000 per month or Rs. 1,500 or any other amount, in a month or once in a year, as per you wish.
My son had opened account with SBI Hyderabad in his daughters name . After the first year depositing he forgot to continue for 2.years. The account is in INACTIVE AND PENALTY status and SBI have confirmed they cannot do anything since they just open the account. How DO I reactivate and pay the penalty penalty

Aapki beti birth certificate ke basis pe amount withdraw kar sakti hai. But, cheque Kanak Sahu ke naam pe banega. Isliye Kanak Sahu ke naam pe bank account bhi hona chahiye.

You can transfer your account from your post office to a SBI bank branch. But, I think most banks are not doing transfers as of now. You should wait some more time for these banks to start the transfer process.

If something unfortunate happens with the girl child, her parents/legal guardian can withdraw 100% of the balance. If something unfortunate happens with the depositor, the girl child or her legal guardian has the option to either withdraw the balance & close the account or continue funding it.

I herein would like to state that I had opened an saving account date 18/3/15 (A/c no- 331000038 Bhawna Tomar) of my daughter in post office in Mullanpur, Garibdas, Punjab. Now as I have been transfered to Bhandoli, Palwal, Haryana,I applied to transfer the same account to Bhandoli Palwal from Mullanpur on 4/8/2015 but till date it has not been done. I have taken up the matter with all officials who are in cc of this email (Trailing mails are attached), but unfortunately nothing has been done, I herein in request you to please look into the matter and sought out at earliest. Also please take strict action against all culprit officials who are involved in the act.

In December 2015, when my daughter ‘Kumkum Verma’ was studying in Class-4 and same name ‘Kumkum Verma’ was mentioned in her school records too, I enrolled her under Pradhanmantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in my city’s post-office. The scheme was launched by Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra ModiJi, to make arrangements for the study and marriage of girl children.
Presently, this account is fully operational and we regularly deposit Rs. 1,000/- per month in this.
Kindly note that my daughter is under regular treatment from last five years, due to some medical problems. After consultation with some religious, astrological and Zodiac advisors, we put one request in my daughter’s school in April 2016 (when she cleared Class-4 and started Class-5) and she was renamed as ‘Chetna Verma’. This name is as per his birth Zodiac signs. Afterwards, we saw a noticeable recovery in her disease and positivity in her attitude. The treatment is still going on.
When we approached our local post office to get the name changed in her Pradhanmantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account from ‘Kumkum Verma’ to ‘Chetna Verma’, he clearly refused it saying, “there is no provision to change the name under Pradhanmantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and we should change back the name in my daughter’s school.”
Sir, kindly let me know how my daughter’s name can be changed in post office (from ‘Kumkum Verma’ to ‘Chetna Verma’) so that we can complete the necessary formalities at earliest and don’t face any issues in running this account.

I have opened the ssy account of my daughter in post office ballabgarh in 2015. Till since I have depositted the premimum regularly(1000/ monthly). For premium deposition, I visited to post office monthly, which is time consuming. Is there any procedure by which I deposited premium online in post office. If your SSY A/c. is with any of the post offices, then you cannot check the balance online. Only with banks which are providing online facilities, you can check it online.

I started the SS Account in May’2015. The rate was 9.2% at the time. I am depositing 150000 per annum in the account apart from the first year when I deposited 129,000. Can you please confirm what amount shall I get after the maturity? Also, when I stop making the payments after the fourteenth year, will the amount keep earning interest upto the 21st year.
